Thom Atkins

    Began working with stained glass and making both 2d and 3d pieces. Atkins has learned metal smithing, welding, and bronze casting. His main medium he enjoyed using is bronze. Thom Atkins has been interested in beads for the last 30 years. He has also created his own jewelry, embroidered, and has added beads to some of his bronze sculptures. Atkins's has created embellished quilts that include his beads. The beads are embedded into the surface of the quilt and their application does the quilting. His canvas is the quilt and his and his beads are his texture.
    Thom's sculptures represent and deal with aspects of the human life and interaction.
