Ernesto Neto

People have began do describe Neto's work as beyond abstract minimalism. Neto tends to use soft natural and organic shapes. He takes these forms and puts them in an environment where they look inviting. The scale he works with includes large installations that are usually soft, and biomorphic. His works invite the audience and viewer's to touch, poke, and even sometimes walk on or through. He creates an environment that is somewhat comforting for the viewer and allows viewers to sometimes crawl and put their bodies through his works. They are usually made white and of stretchy like material. Such thin materials as nylon and cotton. He then will take styrofoam pellets and stuff them. On occasion he would add in aromatic spices.
