Richard Serra

In Richard Serra's earlier artists years, he focused on making abstract art. Richard Serra emphasized his work based on sculpture. The majority of his works were made out of materials such as, lead and iron. Many of his works are made out of sheets of lead or iron and are so heavy that they can stand completely by themselves. Serra's works are usually quite larger than the audience viewings them. This makes the audience want to wall around the piece itself. Serra thought out specific spots for these works to be placed. Such as Urban or Architectural landscape. His main point that goes along with Serra's works he says is time and memory. These large sculptures help spark our memory perception.
The structure "Spheres in Terminal 1 Pier F at Toronto YYZ Airport" was originally put up San Francisco campus. Each plate is 50Ft long. This sculpture weighs 160 tons and has been here since 2005
