Peggy Detmers

Due to the environment Peggy was, she was able to become inspired by nature. Detmer's Combines creativity, scientific training, and observation to create fine realistic sculpture, as well as oil paintings. Having scientific training Peggy was able to bring her bronze to life while in her creative process. She has also discovered a special study of what elements may give and impression to the living form. She incorporates each of these elements into all of her work. During her process of being an artist she has grown to form relationships with animas. She creates an attachment to each animal and then puts that energy into her sculpture she creates. Currently Peggy is continuing to use her scientific training to depict her next subject matter in her chosen medium.
"Tatanka: Story of the Bison" is a bronze statue. This work was commissioned in the early 1990's with planning on using it as the main point for The Dunbar, a Resort. It is a 17-piece set that took 6 years to sculpt.
