Duane Hanson
Duane Hanson is famously known for his realistic works of people. These works of people were usually made out of the materials that include, polyester resin, fiberglass, Bondo and bronze. In the beginning Duane Hanson would cast his figures in fiberglass and vinyl. He would tend to create scenes or tableaux that focused on brutal and violent subjects.
For example "Hanson's Abortion" which was created in 1966 and was thought about after the horrors of a backroom procedure. All of his works are casted from actual people , where were sculpted out of fiberglass and then painted them to make their skin look detailed and realistic. Duane then would cloth these subjects and then arrange them in the way he finds appropriate. He varies his scale in size with his sculptures varying from realistic human size to sculptures that are bigger then a human subject. With the larger ones he wanted to inhabit the audience and viewers space, to make them feel close.

He takes these forms and puts them in an environment where they look inviting. The scale he works with includes large installations that are usually soft, and biomorphic. His works invite the audience and viewer's to touch, poke, and even sometimes walk on or through. He creates an environment that is somewhat comforting for the viewer and allows viewers to sometimes crawl and put their bodies through his works.
